KEDAH Umno liaison committee chairman Mahdzir Khalid said today Barisan Nasional candidates for the Kedah polls will not be picked based on their party position.

He said individuals who want to be fielded as candidates must be known and accepted by party members and the local community.

“Someone who wants to be chosen as a candidate must be well received by the community.

“Whether or not he has a position in the party, if the public can accept him, we have no problem to name him (as a candidate),” he told reporters in Baling today. – Bernama, July 4, 2023.
