THE Election Commission (EC) is meeting tomorrow to set the closing dates for registration to vote by post in elections in six states.

Registration for postal voting by EC officials, media personnel, Malaysians abroad, and agencies or organisations opened online on June 15.

The EC announced yesterday that it will hold a special meeting tomorrow to discuss important election dates for the six states due to hold elections soon.

EC secretary Ikmalrudin Ishak said the meeting followed receipt of notices of the dissolution of the Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Selangor and Negri Sembilan assemblies.

EC chairman Abdul Ghani Salleh will chair the meeting to fix the dates of the election writ, nomination day and polling day, he said in a statement today.

A press conference will be held after the event.

Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu must hold elections by September. – July 4, 2023.
