A 13-YEAR-OLD boy was detained for reckless driving and driving without a licence in Chukai, Terengganu, yesterday, Sinar Harian reported.

Police also arrested four passengers, believed to be his friends, who were in the car with him.

Kemaman police chief Hanyan Ramlan said a white Proton Saga was seen going against traffic in Taman Banggol Indah and the driver had attempted to evade the authorities.

“Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver ignored instructions to stop and continued accelerating to escape,” he was quoted as saying.

Police gave chase and ordered the driver to pull over several times but was ignored by the teenager.

“After a 10km chase, the car eventually stopped outside a self-service laundromat and the suspects were apprehended,” he said.

All five, between the ages of 13 and 16, were later taken to the Kemaman district police headquarters for further investigation. – June 30, 2023.
