Malaysia’s problems started under Muhyiddin’s tenure, says Ramasamy

MUHYIDDIN Yassin should not blindly criticise Anwar Ibrahim’s administration as it was his Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition that was the major source of instability of the present government, Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P. Ramasamy said.

Ramasamy said the problems faced by the unity government was not the doing of Anwar’s leadership but left over of the earlier two inept governments of PN and Barisan Nasional.

Ramasamy was responding to Muhyiddin’s recent remarks that the unity government was hopeless, lacked direction and had no answer to the decline of the value of the ringgit, the state of the economy and the sad plight of the B40 community.

“I don’t think Anwar has downplayed the economic and financial problems of the country.

“He might have only been in power for a few months, but he is certainly not resting on his laurels.

“There is constant and relentless search for enduring political, economic and political stability,” said Ramasamy.

The DAP leader said Anwar was doing his best to address the myriad economic and social problems left behind by PN.

“Anwar is not pretending to have all the answers, but solutions have to be sought in the political process that is unfolding under difficult circumstances.”

He also said the unity government led by Anwar was not forged under ideal political climate as it was formed to ensure political stability and to thwart the grand designs of the PN coalition to constitute a government under dubious sworn affidavits.

“If there is instability in the country today, maybe Muhyiddin can do his part in restraining PN from going berserk on race and religion.

“Is he prepared to do this? PN is part of the problem not the solution,” Ramasamy said. – June 29, 2023.
