SULTAN of Terengganu Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin today met with Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar in Istana Syarqiyyah in Kuala Terengganu.

It is believed the menteri besar sought the meeting to obtain the ruler’s consent for the dissolution of the state assembly to pave the way for elections.

Samsuri, who is the Terengganu Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman, arrived at the palace at 8.38am.

He is expected to issue a statement later today.

PAS wrested the state back from Barisan Nasional in 2018 after winning 22 of the 32 state seats. 

The PAS-led state government’s mandate ends on June 30. – Bernama, June 27, 2023.
