BERSATU president Muhyiddin Yassin has accused Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi of being willing to join forces with DAP to escape court charges.
“Back then, when you talked about DAP to Umno, (Umno) attacked (DAP) to the core.
“But today, their stance has changed. Why? Because Zahid wants to free himself from his charges,” the Pagoh lawmaker told the Perikatan Nasional Election Convention in Selangor today.
Muhyiddin, a former Umno deputy president, said Umno’s cooperation with DAP did not go down well among party members.
He claimed several members left Umno because it is working with DAP.
“Some (who left Umno) have openly declared their support for PN.
“There are others who are still in Umno but support PN.
“I believe there are many more Umno members who will leave the party to support PN” he said.
Meanwhile, referring to former DAP lawmaker Tony Pua calling BN corrupt, Muhyiddin said it showed there is no unity in the unity government.
“How to (call themselves) unity (govt) when there is no unity at all? Maybe their meaning of unity is different.
“Even in parliament, we can see some uneasiness … among lawmakers,” he said.
Last night, Pua, speaking at a DAP fundraising dinner in Petaling Jaya, reportedly called BN a “corrupt alliance”.
Pua said he hopes PH can form its own government without the involvement of Umno and BN in the next general election. – June 24, 2023.
