WINNING Selangor in the upcoming state polls will show Perikatan Nasional (PN) is on the right track, coalition chairman Muhyiddin Yassin said today.

“If PN wins Selangor, it is a sign that other states are also looking for a change,” the former prime minister said at a Perikatan Nasional Election Convention in Selangor today.

Selangor dissolved its assembly yesterday.

Muhyiddin said he is optimistic PN can win the three states controlled by Pakatan Harapan (PH).

Muhyiddin said PN made waves in the last general election despite being a relatively new coalition.

He said he hopes the support continues in the state polls. 

“Although Bersatu and PN were quite new, they managed to win 74 seats in total. 

“This wave will continue for the state elections,” he said.

Islamist party PAS contributed the most seats for PN in the last national polls. 

PAS won 49 parliamentary seats while Bersatu won 25.

Support for PN was strong in Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.

Muhyiddin urged PN components to strengthen their teamwork for the state polls. 

“We have to work together to ensure things go our way,” he said. 

Muhyiddin said PN will complete its manifestos for the six states next week. – June 24, 2023.
