THERE is no “big brother” in Perikatan Nasional (PN) despite PAS contesting the most seats in the state polls, said coalition chairman Muhyiddin Yassin.

The Bersatu president said PAS has more experience than his party and has many incumbent seats in Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah.

“We don’t have ‘big brothers’ or ‘little brothers’. I am the president of Bersatu and the chairman of PN, which PAS supports.

“It doesn’t matter who leads, as long as we have the same determination and (are) in the same fight,” he told reporters at a press conference in Pagoh today.

The former prime minister was responding to claims PAS is the “big brother” in PN as the Islamist party will be contesting 126 out of 245 seats in the state polls.

Bersatu will contest 83 seats, while Gerakan will fight for 36.

Muhyiddin said seat distribution was done fairly, even if PAS was given more seats in Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.

“In Selangor and Negri Sembilan, there are more (seats for) Bersatu… Likewise in Penang.

“For us, it’s not a problem and it (the distribution of seats in PN) was decided well.”

However, PN has yet to decide on which candidates to field.

“We will ensure there is fair or appropriate participation from the categories of candidates presented to us,” Muhyiddin said. – June 24, 2023.
