FORMER Damansara MP Tony Pua’s remarks about Barisan Nasional at a fundraiser were “uncalled for” and did not reflect the party’s position, DAP leader Anthony Loke said.

Pua had taken a dig at the coalition led by Umno while making a speech last night.

He said Pakatan Harapan supporters must prove that “a multiracial party that is clean and not corrupt” could do better “than corrupt coalitions like Barisan Nasional, Umno and Bersatu”.

Loke said Pua did not hold any position in DAP and was speaking in his personal capacity.

“It does not represent the party leadership. The speech, which was an attack on a partner in the unity government was, uncalled for,” Loke said in a statement.

Loke said the DAP leadership had decided to go into coalition with BN to create political stability.

“Any provocative statement on partners in the coalition is not in line with the party’s position and its direction at the current time.

“I would like to remind all DAP leaders and members to always maintain harmony in the relationship between parties and coalitions in the unity government for the sake of political stability, which is much needed at a time when the country is facing various external challenges.

“ Anyone in DAP who cannot keep their mouth shut in this matter is not welcome at all to speak on the DAP stage.” – June 24, 2023.
