THE government has introduced five Madani affordable housing projects in Kuala Lumpur to enable low-income groups to own homes.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the projects, to be developed this year, will give an opportunity to M40 and B40 groups as well as youth to own homes priced between RM150,000 and RM200,000.
“All these residential projects will have three bedrooms and two bathrooms with an area of at least 700 sq ft as well as a parking bay,” he said at the Prime Minister’s meet-and-greet session with affordable home owners in Kuala Lumpur today.
The projects to be developed are Residensi Prihatin Madani, Residensi Madani, Residensi Sejahtera Madani, Rumah Majlis Madani and Rumah Ihsan Madani.
Anwar said Residensi Prihatin Madani is targeted at the M40 group with a household income of RM7,000 per month and below. The 800 sq ft homes are priced at RM200,000 per unit.
As for Residensi Madani, he said the 750 sq ft homes, costing RM180,000 each, are targeted at the B40 group with a household income of RM5,000 per month and below.
The Residensi Sejahtera Madani is for singles, newly employed youth and newly married young couples, he said.
“This is targeted at those aged between 21 and 30 with a household income of RM4,000 per month. The 700 sq ft units are offered at RM150,000 each,” he said.
Anwar said the government will continue to provide housing through rental schemes for low-income groups who cannot afford to own homes.
“Rumah Majlis Madani is targeted at the M40 and B40 groups who cannot afford to own a house, through a rent of RM600 per month for five years,” he said.
“Rumah Ihsan Madani is offered to the B40 group and the vulnerable at RM300 rent a month.” – Bernama, June 23, 2023.
