DEPUTY Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain has been appointed the country’s top cop and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay is his deputy.

In a statement today, Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said Razaruddin’s two-year term begins Friday.

Razaruddin, 61, takes over from Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani who has opted for early retirement.

Razarudin joined the police force after graduating from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) with a master’s degree in social science (policing studies).

In 1984, he started work as an investigating officer at the CID in Kedah.

Razarudin was the Bukit Aman Narcotics CID director for a year before he became deputy IGP in 2021.

Ayob has a master’s degree in information technology from UKM.

In 1993, Ayob started work at the Bukit Aman Special Branch, rising from the rank of assistant superintendent of police to assistant commissioner of police.

Last year, he then returned to Bukit Aman as Narcotics director before serving as CID director.
