WITH the Bukit Merah dam water at critical level for a few days, the rationing exercise only involves irrigation, said the Perak Irrigation and Drainage Department (DID).

It said residential areas are not involved in the exercise. 

The DID said irrigation areas subject to rationing are Alor Pongsu and Bagan Serai, whose water supply is channelled through Terusan Besar, and Selinsing and Gunung Semanggol, whose supply is channelled via Terusan Selinsing.

The department said water from the dam is being channelled to Kerian and southern Penang (Sungai Acheh) to help irrigate eight locations with an area of 20,000ha. – Bernama, June 20, 2023.
