MOE assures opportunities available for SPM dropouts

THE Education Ministry (MOE) has launched various interventions to help Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) dropouts, including a two-year tracking system, said its minister Fadhlina Sidek.

She said over two years, the MOE does more for SPM dropouts than just helping them resit the exam.

“Through the MOE’s tracking system, each group will be on our radar for two years, and at least we can perform various interventions such as helping those who wish to continue their studies in Form 6,” she said.

Fadhlina said this after attending the Madani Unity Carnival at SK Kanchong Darat, Banting, today.

“The technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programme is open to those who are interested, and we will certainly work with state foundations to provide assistance,” she said.

Fadhlina said her ministry makes opportunities available for any student who wants to resit SPM.

“If they (SPM dropouts) need any other support, perhaps financially, we will look at the cases,” she said.

Yesterday, media reports said the prime minister instructed the MOE to track down the nearly 30,000 students who registered for SPM but did not sit the exam last year. – Bernama, June 19, 2023.
