SEAT allocation talks between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) for the state elections are almost done except for nine seats yet be settled.
Umno secretary-general Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said talks at the BN-PH Negotiation Committee, were, in fact, completed.
This development, he said, puts to rest claims by certain quarters that the unity government was not stable and so on.
“We are at the last stage where the matter is to be finalised at the presidential level. Of the 245 state seats to be contested, we only have nine with overlapping claims.
“Meaning, 99.7% of the seats have been finalised and I can say that (negotiations) went on very smoothly and harmoniously,” he told reporters after a walkabout at the Mara Educational Institution carnival in Johor Baru today.
The six states facing elections are Kedah, Penang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Terengganu and Kelantan.
Asyraf, who is also unity government secretariat head, said the top leadership will resolve overlapping claims to the nine seats across six states. – Bernama, June 18, 2023.
