Illegal mining suspect dies in MACC’s custody

AN individual undergoing investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission for illegal mining and money laundering died today.  

MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki said the man was among three arrested for allegedly committing those crimes in Raub, Pahang. 

“During the investigation, our officers found the man to be unwell and immediately sent him to Putrajaya hospital where he died while being treated,” Azam said.  

He added that the investigating officers would be giving CCTV recordings and their statements to the police. 

The illegal activities of the suspects have reportedly cost the Pahang state government RM4.7 million in losses. – June 15, 2023.
