THE Court of Appeal today allowed Rosmah Mansor temporary repossession of  her passport to travel to Singapore to visit her daughter Nooryana Najwa Najib.

The prosecution did not object to the application from the wife of former prime minister Najib Razak.

Court of Appeal judge P. Ravinthran, who chaired the three-member panel, made the order after hearing submissions from her lawyer, Jagjit Singh.

Ravinthran said Rosmah will have her passport today until July 7.

“In view of there being no objection from the prosecution, this application is allowed,” he said.

Earlier this week Rosmah applied for the temporary release of her passport for the third time to visit her daughter and grandson in Singapore.

In her supporting affidavit for the release of the document, Rosmah said she intended to travel to Singapore for a personal visit to her daughter, who is married to a Kazakh, Daniyar Kessikbayev, in Singapore.

Rosmah was previously allowed temporary access to her passport in October 2021, when she travelled to Singapore to see her daughter who was giving birth.

In March, this year, the Court of Appeal returned Rosmah’s passport to her for a trip to Singapore to visit her grandson, who was unwell.

She has been convicted and sentenced to 10 years in jail and fined RM970 million for corruption in connection with a RM1.2 billion government contract for solar equipment for schools. The case is now at the appeal stage and fixed for hearing mid-July. Her passport was surrendered to the court as a bail condition. – June 15, 2023.
