THE government has agreed to introduce a technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programme specially for women, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.
He said the programme was proposed by Wanita Umno chief Noraini Ahmad and would be implemented in collaboration with Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka and the Risda-owned Kolej Universiti Agrosains Malaysia.
“I have made arrangements for an intake of 15,000 women for this TVET programme for women, Alhamdulillah,” the Umno president said in his winding-up and adjournment speech at the Umno general assembly at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur today.
On housing for youth, as raised by Umno Youth at its assembly on Thursday, Zahid, who is also rural and regional development minister, said the government had approved Madani transit houses under the youth transit housing scheme nationwide.
On the issue of bankruptcy involving borrowers of Mara education loans, Zahid said he had directed Mara chairman Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki to study the matter with a view to easing the burden of borrowers and protecting their welfare. – Bernama, June 10, 2023.
