Skipper drowns, 7 others rescued after boat sinks in Sepang

A SENIOR citizen man was found drowned after the fishing boat he was on with seven others sank off Bagan Lalang beach, Sepang, this afternoon.

A Selangor Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the victim was identified as Ang Tong Poh, 67, who was the skipper of the boat while the other seven men who survived were aged between 16 and 50.

He said the department was informed of the incident by the Civil Defence Force at 2.27pm.

“The fire department was informed that a fishing boat with eight men on board was believed to have sunk at noon today while travelling from the Sepang Kecil jetty to Kelong Haji Nazri,” he said today.

Firefighters searched the coast and found the body of a man in a mangrove swamp about 3km from the Sepang Kecil jetty.

“The body has been sent to Banting Hospital for a post-mortem,” he said. – Bernama, June 10, 2023.
