Cops shoot 2 suspected burglars dead

POLICE fatally shot two men, believed to be foreigners, who attempted to break into a house in Taman Supreme, Cheras early this morning.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said officers had to fire several shots in self-defence after the suspects tried to attack them using machetes.

He said the two men in their 30s died while two accomplices escaped.

He said officers from the Serious Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department noticed the four suspects behaving strangely while patrolling the area at about 3.30am.

“Follow-up inspection found some burglary tools such as machetes and steel cutters.

“We are tracking down the two men who fled using a car believed to be using a fake registration number,” he told reporters at the scene.

Shuhaily said the bodies of the two men were sent to Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital for a post-mortem. The case is being investigated under section 307 of the penal code for attempted murder. – Bernama, June 8, 2023
