PERAK Menteri Besar Saarani Mohamad is ready to cooperate with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) following a report by state opposition leader Razman Zakaria regarding an issue with Malay reserve land in the state.
He said the MACC has conducted several prior investigations into the matter.
“The MACC went to the Land and Mines Department and retrieved relevant files.
“If there is a new report made by the opposition leader, it is up to the MACC because we (the state government) have no problem. We have nothing to hide and (this) is subject to investigation,” he said.
Saarani said this to reporters after a ceremony to donate 400 sacrificial cows by five state government-linked companies worth RM2.92 million at the Perak Darul Ridzuan building today.
Earlier today, Razman lodged a report with the MACC about the management of Malay reserve land, which he alleged was divided into lots and sold to non-Malays for RM412,800 per lot in Sitiawan.
Razman, who visited the Perak MACC office in Meru Raya with 16 Perikatan Nasional assemblymen, said 649.2ha of Malay reserve land was divided into 317 lots and turned into oil palm plantations fully owned by non-Malays.
The delegation arrived at the office around 10am and was interviewed by MACC officers for nearly two hours.
Perak MACC director Mohd Fauzi Mohamad confirmed the matter when contacted. – Bernama, June 7, 2023.
