MALAYSIAN police (PDRM) are cooperating with Thai cops to find Chong Sum Yee, a Malaysian who disappeared in Chiang Mai on June 1.

PDRM secretary Noorsiah Saaduddin said the force received a report on the missing woman by her mother Chee Choy Wen on June 2.

“Efforts to trace the victim are being carried out by Thai police with assistance from Interpol, PDRM and authorities in Thailand and Myanmar,” she said in a statement today.

Yesterday, Bernama reported Chong left for Chiang Mai on May 29 and travelled 250km to the northern district of Mae Said in Chiang Rai province, Thailand.

This is near Tachilek in Myanmar, in which cases of human trafficking have been reported.

Chong was last contacted by her family on June 1 at 10.30am local time.

Chee said her daughter told her she was in Thailand for work, but Chong’s employer denied the claim. – Bernama, June 7, 2023.
