PUBLIC universities are set to introduce a hybrid and flexible learning system for undergraduates this year.

Higher Education Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin said students enrolled in the system would only attend lectures in their first and final years.

He said 19 public universities are ready to offer flexible learning first-degree programmes for the 2023/2024 academic session.

“The students will be given the choice and flexibility to study from home, without having to be physically present in class, where they can attend lectures online,” he said at Universiti Malaya this morning.

Khaled said this will also reduce the financial burden on students.

He also announced that the duration of study for 44 programmes in nine universities would be shortened from four to three years. – June 4, 2023.
