THE Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have completed their investigation on former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad for allegedly insulting the monarchy.
PDRM secretary Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin said the investigation papers will be referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers on June 6 in line with the provision under article 145(3) of the Federal Constitution.
Noorsiah added that investigation into the Malay Proclamation issue involving Dr Mahathir was at its early stages. Police were also recording statements from PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and Penang DAP deputy chairman P. Ramasamy.
The Bukit Aman D5 Crime Investigation Unit yesterday recorded statements from Dr Mahathir at Yayasan Albukhary to assist investigations into remarks he made that allegedly insulted of the royal institution and as well as on the Malay Proclamation movement. – Bernama, June 3, 2023.
