PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) has sent Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim three questions for next week’s Prime Minister’s Question and Answer Session in the Dewan Rakyat, including one on the Allah issue.
“These questions have been sent by the Perikatan Nasional parliament secretariat to the Dewan Rakyat secretary on June 1, 2023 to be included in the meeting agenda on June 6, 2023,” the coalition’s secretariat said in a statement today.
The questions the prime minister will answer during the session, however, will be shortlisted and chosen by the government.
A question on the Allah issue, according to the secretariat, was submitted by Kota Bharu MP Takiyuddin Hassan, who is a former law minister.
In his question, Takiyuddin asked the prime minister to explain the process of withdrawing an appeal in court regarding the usage of the word “Allah” by non-Muslims.
“When should the Council of Malay Rulers be informed on the issue – before or after the government’s move to withdraw its appeal on the case against the High Court’s decision?
“What is the method of withdrawing the appeal?” he asked.
Another question PN has asked pertains to the value of the ringgit as well as the government’s approach to strengthening the value of the local note.
Pendang MP Awang Hashim posed a question regarding the procurement of littoral combat ships (LCS) by the Defence Ministry.
“Who is responsible for the failure of the LCS project?” he asked.
He further asked whether the government ought to establish a special purpose vehicle company to take over Boustead Naval Shipyard Sdn Bhd (BNS). The cost of the project was revised from the initial RM9 billion to RM11.2 billion after BNS signed a sixth supplemental contract with the government, while the number of ships to be delivered was reduced from six to only five. – June 2, 2023.
