THE Health Ministry (MOH) has invited private general practitioners (GPs) in 10 districts to participate in the Madani Medical Scheme, its minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said.

She encouraged GPs in these locations to register as Madani Medical Scheme panel clinics starting today by visiting the ProtectHealth website or calling 03-8687 2525.

The 10 districts are Gombak, Hulu Langat, Klang and Petaling (Selangor), Kuala Lumpur, Kinta (Perak), northeast (Penang), Johor Baru (Johor), Kota Kinabalu (Sabah) and Kuching (Sarawak).

“During the tabling of Budget 2023, the prime minister announced the Madani Medical Scheme as one of the government’s initiatives to overcome the issue of patient congestion at the government health facilities.

“The Madani Medical Scheme is a free health service for the recipients of the Rahmah Cash Aid (STR).

“It aims to help the B40 group get acute primary care services (outpatient treatment of acute cases) at nearby GPs, thereby reducing congestion and patient waiting times at government health facilities. Beneficiaries can receive Madani Medical Scheme treatment starting June 15, 2023,” she said.

Zaliha said ProtectHealth will also organise an online briefing and training session for registered GPs on the Madani Medical Scheme.

MOH received the second-highest allocation among all ministries in Budget 2023 – RM36.3bil compared to RM32.4bil in 2022, which is an increase of 12%. – June 2, 2023.
