THE Health Ministry will announce the updated Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) soon, said Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa.

She said this follows the announcement by the World Health Organisation (WHO) on May 5, that Covid-19 is no longer a global health emergency.

However, she advised the country’s citizens to continue practising the existing SOP, including wearing face masks in public places, especially for those who are symptomatic.

“We at the Health Ministry are discussing the latest protection measures for the public in the near future, even though Covid-19 is no longer a public health emergency of international interest,” she said in a Facebook video today.

The WHO said the pandemic, which has claimed more than 6.9 million lives worldwide over the past three years, is no longer an international health emergency. – Bernama, May 30, 2023.
