DOMESTIC Trade and Cost of Living Minister Salahuddin Ayub said his ministry will cooperate with various agencies to build a systematic flood victim database to attract more companies to provide Rahmah Insurance, set to be launched in June.
He said the database will help convince leading insurance companies in the country to offer assistance to flood victims.
“The data will be collected from disaster centres… My ministry will cooperate with police, the National Disaster Management Agency and the Civil Defence Force to update the data.
“We don’t want inaccurate targets” as the effort needs insurance companies to be confident in their offerings to flood victims, he said.
“Three big insurance companies have stated their commitment to help these victims,” he told reporters after giving monetary aid to flood victims in Dungun today.
He said insurance companies will present suitable packages, including vehicle and residence damages, next week, and urged residents in flood-prone areas to add their information to the database.
“Those interested in being part of Rahmah Insurance need only pay an affordable, low rate to obtain adequate protection,” he said. – Bernama, May 30, 2023.
