KERETAPI Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) said its collaboration with van-hailing service provider Kumpool will encourage people to use public transport, especially rail services.
KTMB group chief executive officer Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin said through the collaboration, commuters can use the van-hailing service to get to KTMB stations from designated locations with fares as low as RM1.
“This collaboration aims to provide an easier, faster, and more flexible transport option for KTMB passengers, which can be booked through the smartphone app Kumpool,” he said at the collaboration announcement ceremony in Subang Jaya today.
He said as a start, the Subang Jaya station, which serves 48,000 KTM passengers a month, was chosen as a pilot location for the Klang Valley in December.
“We plan to launch the service at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia station in early July before expanding it to the southern region,” he said.
He said KTMB will monitor and evaluate outcomes of the collaboration and continue to develop strategies to improve public transport.
“KTMB welcomes strategic cooperation with e-hailing and van-hailing companies as these platforms are an increasingly preferred option among users, and can help boost the public transport system in the country.” – Bernama, May 30, 2023.
