PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim said today he is waiting for a report on claims some students are not being paid while undergoing industrial training.
He said the Human Resources Ministry is scrutinising the report.
“The ministry has taken the report, and I’m waiting for updates,” he told reporters at Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka in Kuala Lumpur today.
He was responding to allegations that some interns with ministries, government departments, agencies, and private companies have been denied an allowance.
Anwar said he will examine any proposal to formulate a special law to protect the welfare of interns.
“God willing, when the Finance Ministry and I receive the proposal, I will take appropriate action,” he said. – Bernama, May 30, 2023.
