THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is investigating claims of corruption involving a Petronas project with an international oil and gas corporation.
The commission confirmed that investigation papers had been opened.
“Our officers received full cooperation from Petronas in the probe involving a project worth RM399 million in Sarawak.
“So far, the MACC has found several weaknesses in practices, system and work procedures in relation to the matter,” it said in a statement today.
The commission also said it had proposed several improvements to standard operating procedure as preventive measures.
Previously a news portal had questioned Petronas’ decision to award a project to an international company, which it claimed was involved in a corruption case in Britain. – May 26, 2023.
