DEPUTY Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he hopes to triple the starting salary for graduates from the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) council from the current RM1,200 to RM3,500 a month.

Zahid said the sum was comparable to the wages of foreign workers working in similar areas of expertise.

“Right now, the minimum is RM1,200. I want to raise it to RM3,500. Why take in foreign workers with a salary of RM3,500?

“It’s very unfair. That’s why I am offering to chair the council so that I can promote technical and vocational education, so it can be upgraded,” he said at the Putra World Trade Centre today. – March 22, 2018.
