PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim today said that all political parties in the unity government have vowed not to sabotage the administration.
He said the leaders Pakatan Harapan (PH), Barisan Nasional (BN), Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) made the peldge at the Unity Government National Convention yesterday at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre.
“The assembly has give its assurance that at least for years to come, no sabotage attempts will be entertained,” he said at the Prime Minister’s Department monthly assembly here.
He said the convention was a clear indication that the unity government was strong and stable.
The government is now more organised and some of the programmes it has implemented have strengthened the country, he added.
Anwar said political stability has contributed to a better-than-expected GDP growth of 5.6% in the first quarter.
“If you look at the figures from the Department of Statistics, the first quarter performance is much better than what was projected in November and December… inflation dropped, the number of unemployed also dropped and investment rose,” he said.
On Friday, Anwar said the government was confident of achieving its economic growth forecast of 4-5% for 2023 despite the global economic challenges and uncertainties.
He said the increase in investment in Malaysia required all parties at the federal and state levels to work together.
“States and municipalities must work together so that the approval process can be accelerated,” he said.
Previously, Anwar said investment projects from China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (Geely) and Rongsheng Petrochemical Co are expected to start in May.
Geely’s investment projects are in Pahang and Perak while Rongsheng’s projects are in Pengerang, Johor and Terengganu. – Bernama, May 15, 2023.
