MUDA president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has deflected questions pertaining to the party’s application to join Pakatan Harapan (PH).

“The question is best asked to the PH leadership.

“As everyone is aware, we have already forwarded our letter three times. It is best that they respond,” the Muar lawmaker told reporters following the National Unity Government Convention.

The PH leadership has yet to make a decision on Muda’s application to be part of the coalition.

The youth party applied to join the coalition last year before the November general election.

PH secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had said he was too busy with his ministerial duties to read Muda’s application letter.

Muda, who was left out of two unity government secretariat meetings, was invited to attend today’s convention.

Syed Saddiq appreciated that an invitation was extended to the party.

“It’s good we were invited today.

“It’s a good sign that today we focus on policy reform, which helps the lives of average Malaysians,“ he said on the sidelines of the convention.

The former youth and sports minister also said with the stability of the current unity government, they can focus on the rights of the youth as well as to help the people. – May 14, 2023.
