THE National Unity Government Convention, where leaders and representatives from the 19 political parties in the Unity Government converged today, provides the opportunity to forge stronger cooperation, Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof said today.

The Petra Jaya MP said he was proud of the parties in the unity government, who are willing to put aside their differences and work together to strengthen unity in the country.

“With the launch of this convention, it becomes a commitment to ensure that this unity can be strengthened not only among the political parties that built this administration, but also to bring this unity agenda to the whole country.

“The foundation of a country’s strength is unity among all levels of society, regardless of political, business, or social sectors.

“If we can unite, God willing, others will be able to join us to build a stronger, harmonious and prosperous nation,” Fadillah said today during the inaugural National Unity Government Convention at the World Trade Centre.

He also congratulated the youth wing in the unity government political parties for having a similar mindset, in wanting to bring the best for the nation.

“I want to congratulate the youth members of this unity government for what they’re doing, as I want them and all of us to work on finding a common ground and not focus on our differences.

“In the end, all we want is to move the country forward and improve our economy.

“The youth’s focus should be on this and by working on it, we can help develop the country together and celebrate our unity government and the Madani concept,” Fadhillah, the first deputy prime minister from Sarawak, added.

The unity government convention themed “Madani – Mewajahi Masa Depan Malaysia (Madani – Envisaging Malaysia’s Future)” is part of the government’s drive to foster unity among former rival parties ahead of the upcoming state elections in six states. – May 14, 2023.
