THE 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) corruption trial has been vacated once again as former prime minister Najib Razak is still suffering from diarrhoea, the Kuala Lumpur High Court heard today.

Judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah was informed by Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) clinical specialist Dr Mohd Fadhli Zil Ikram Karim that Najib, 69, complained of loose stool this morning.

Upon medical examination, Dr Fadhli confirmed the former Pekan MP is still suffering from diarrhoea.

Dr Fadhli said Najib is at risk of dehydration and low blood pressure.

He said HKL will monitor the former finance minister’s condition and keep him on intravenous drip.

“In my expert opinion, he (Najib) is unfit to go to court as there is risk of dehydration and (he needs) regular monitoring at the hospital,” Fadhli told the court.

The doctor said he was the one who issued a medical certificate (MC) to Najib for today and two days ago.

The trial will resume June 21. Prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Akram Gharib.

On Tuesday, the criminal court postponed the trial as the former Pekan MP was on a two-day MC for diarrhoea.

Kajang Prison medical officer Dr Mohd Hafiz Mohd Hoshni told the court Najib was referred to HKL after complaining of a stomachache and defecating four times.

The medical officer said after Najib took charcoal tablets, he said he felt the same and was mildly dehydrated, with a slight fever of 37.8ºC.

Najib is facing four charges of abusing his position to get bribes totalling RM2.3 billion from 1MDB funds, as well as 21 charges of money laundering. – May 11, 2023.
