WHILE Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim welcomed British rock band Coldplay for their concert scheduled in November this year, a PAS leader has called on the government to nix the event.
Former Temerloh MP Nasrudin Hassan, in a Facebook post, said the concert will not bring any good to race, religion and the country.
“Does Putrajaya want to encourage hedonism and perverse cultures in the country (by allowing Coldplay to perform here)?
“I advise (the government) to cancel the concert,” the PAS central working committee member said.
Nasarudin uploaded the post on his official Facebook page, attached with a picture Coldplay’s lead vocalist, Chris Martin, holding up the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) flag at a concert in Wembley, London.
He also posted another photo, which shows Anwar’s tweet, welcoming the music band to Malaysia.
Anwar also had posted a video on Facebook in response to Coldplay’s announcement, welcoming the band to Malaysia and saying, “See you in November!”
Coldplay will have a series of shows in Asia, in November, as part of their record-breaking “Music of the Spheres” world tour.
The band’s show in Malaysia is set to be held on November 22 at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
The five-member band led by vocalist and pianist Martin have picked up accolades, including Favourite Touring Artist at the 2022 American Music Awards, and Tour of the Year at the 2023 iHeartRadio Awards. – May 10, 2023.
