Ex-MARii CEO charged again with graft

MADANI Sahari, former Malaysia Automotive Robotics and loT Institute (MARii) chief executive officer, was today charged again with corruption

He pleaded not guilty to one count of asking for a RM5 million bribe from P. Kuhan Arunasalam to help the latter to land a RM24 million contract for a employees placement and training programme for his company A2Z Technology Sdn Bhd.

The 56-year-old claimed trial to the charge before Sessions Court judge Suzanna Hussain.

He is accused of committing the offence at A2Z Technology Sdn Bhd’s office in Kuala Lumpur in May 2021.

The charge was framed under Section 16(a)(A) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009. 

The offence is punishable by 20 years in jail and a fine of at least five times the bribe received or RM10,000, whichever is higher.

Prior to this, the former CEO was charged at the Shah Alam Sessions Court with receiving a bribe of RM5 million from one Kenny Khow Chuan Wah, who had acted on Kuhan’s orders.
