PARTY preparations to face the state elections – such as seat negotiations, candidacies and campaign strategies – will be decided upon soon, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said.

However, he said for in Penang and Selangor, which are dominated by Pakatan Harapan (PH), negotiations on the distribution of seats should be initiated by the respective state leaderships.

“We discussed earlier that there is no problem (with seats in states that are fully controlled by a certain party). Some states led by Umno we accept, and other states led by PH component parties, we also accept.

“There is no dispute here, but I leave it to the wisdom of the respective state leaderships who should begin the negotiations in a proper manner, and then present (the results) to the central leadership,” he said after chairing a unity government leadership consultative council meeting in Kuala Lumpur tonight. – Bernama, May 7, 2023.
