JOHOR police arrested five men and seized various types of drugs, worth RM3.43 million, in two separate raids in Pontian and Tangkak on Thursday.
Johor police chief Kamarul Zaman Mamat said all the suspects, including a foreign national, were men, ages 23 to 53, were arrested between 8.45pm and 10pm.
He said his team seized 64.9kg of syabu worth more than RM2.14 million, and more than 58,000 ecstasy pills worth RM1.29 million.
“The gang would use homestays as transit points for smuggling to neighbouring countries by sea,” he said at Pontian district police headquarters today.
Kamarul said police also seized four cars, a motorcycle, two fibre boats and engines, as well as RM1,700 and US$S21 (RM93.40) in cash.
“All men involved were remanded for seven days from Friday, and the case is being investigated under section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he added. – Bernama, May 7, 2023.
