IT is achievable for Perikatan Nasional (PN) to win 33 seats in the Selangor elections, Mohamad Azmin Ali said.

The Selangor PN chairman said he was confident of his coalition’s success in the Pakatan Harapan stronghold.

“We must work hard to get 30 or more seats. That’s our target. It’s doable,” he said at the Gombak Setia Hari Raya open house.

Azmin added that all parties in PN had agreed on the seat allocations and the details would be revealed soon.

“We have nearly finalised the seats for all states, and it will then be given to the leadership to decide.”

Azmin said Bersatu, together with their partners PAS and Gerakan, had formed a committee to discuss their manifesto for Selangor.

“That is what we want in Selangor (to win) and to focus on economic issues, youth, environment, employment and to make the state a trading and investment hub.”

Last week Selangor PAS secretary Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir said PN was targeting 33 of the state’s 56 seats.

Roslan said the trend in the last general election showed votes in the seats contested were clearly in favour of PN.

PN won six parliamentary seats in Selangor in the last general election – Sabak Bernam, Sungai Besar, Tanjung Karang, Hulu Selangor, Kapar, and Kuala Langat.

“We expect the Malay vote shift in GE15 will remain. But there are also many other factors, among them the trend of young people (supporting PN) plus the shift of Malay votes strengthens our expectations,” Roslan said.  – May 6, 2023.
