PM wants Sungai Buloh Prison repairs fast-tracked

PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim today directed the Home Ministry to expedite repairs to the Sungai Buloh Prison quarters and ensure the work is completed by year’s end.

“God willing, I have asked the chief secretary… to move the process into the fast track initiative,” he said in his speech at the Prisons Department’s Aidilfitri celebrations held at the prison today.

The prime minister also announced the approval of funding for air conditioning for Dewan Tan Sri Murad Ahmad, within the prison compound.

Anwar also thanked prison staff for serving him well during his detention a few years ago.

Reflecting on his memories while serving a nine-year prison term, the prime minister said it taught him the meaning of good deeds, tolerance and the true values of trust.
