ANTI-GRAFT officials did not quiz former human resources minister M. Saravanan over alleged corruption in the recruitment of foreign workers, an MIC source has been reported as saying.
The source, as reported by Free Malaysia Today, denied claims made in social media that Saravanan, who is also MIC deputy president, had been questioned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission two weeks ago.
The agency’s investigation is part of an ongoing probe which has seen the arrests of Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar’s two aides and a businessman.
Saravanan is Sivakumar’s immediate predecessor in the ministry.
“No such investigation took place. It’s nonsense,” the source was quoted as saying by the new portal.
The source also said he had spoken to Saravanan about the matter.
Saravanan could not be reached for clarification. – May 3, 2023.
