PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim today admitted there is conspiracy to topple the unity government.
He, however, downplayed the chances of that happening, citing the strength of the multi-coalition administration.
“The plot is there but there is no basis. So, we focus on our jobs.
“As for those conspiring, they don’t have any other work but to conspire (to bring down the government).
“It is their job every month (to conspire) and they have their strategy. Just don’t entertain day dreamers,” Anwar told the members of the press today.
Anwar stressed that the government he leads is strong enough to withstand any conspiracy.
“Insya-Allah, as far as I can see, the government is strong enough.
“Most importantly, Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional, Gabungan Parti Sarawak, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah and others have shown strong commitment (to be together),” the PKR president said.
He said that the government should focus on doing its work.
Earlier, news portal The Vibes reported there were those within the political sphere who were out to unseat the prime minister, a move that could trigger by-elections.
It was reported that certain Barisan Nasional MPs were being persuaded to take part in the “do-or-die mission”, where they would have to sacrifice their seats and quit their respective parties. – May 1, 2023.
