POLICE have arrested two Taiwanese individuals believed to be involved in a shooting case when they entered the country at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on April 20.
Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the suspects, wanted by Taiwanese authorities, were detained by the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department.
“Both are wanted by the Taiwanese police, suspected of being involved in a shooting case in the country.
“In fact, they are also suspected of being part of a triad and members of a scamming (fraud) syndicate in Taiwan,” he said in a statement today.
Acryl said they were detained following an arrest warrant issued by Taiwanese authorities.
“The arrest of the two suspects was carried out in accordance with the Immigration Act 1959/63 when they arrived at KLIA.
“Both were handed over to Taiwanese police representatives at KLIA to be taken back to their home country at 2.45pm yesterday.”
“PDRM is committed to maintaining peace and public order. Security measures will be taken to ensure that Malaysia is not used as a transit country or destination for any party that violates the law,” he said. – April 29, 2023.
