THE Public Works Department’s (PWD) swift action in installing canvas sheets at the landslide-hit Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy (MACA) and the Malaysian Institute of Integrity (IIM) at Persiaran Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin, Bukit Tunku yesterday, succeeded in preventing a more serious landslide in the area.

Sentul district police chief Beh Eng Lai said the area would be at risk for more landslides following heavy rain, if the move had not been taken.

“Following the installation of canvas sheets at the collapsed area yesterday, we found no more soil movement or erosion.

“The installation will be completed today before work to install iron piles begins tomorrow,” he told reporters at the site today.

Meanwhile, he said an alternative road to MACA would be built after iron-piling is done at the site.

Beh also said both the MACA and IIM buildings are safe for use. – Bernama, April 27, 2023.
