PENANG folk had a rude shock this morning, waking up to anti-Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng posters put up all over the state.

Each poster has Lim’s picture superimposed on a flood scene and a cleared hill slope, and the words “Boasting Pakatan Harapan” and “10 years, 51 empty promises”.

The posters, printed in Chinese and English, bore no logo or words indicating who was behind them.

However, Barisan Nasional had in the past accused the DAP-led Penang government of failing to deliver at least 51 projects since Pakatan Rakyat took over in 2008.

According to Malaysiakini, state BN chief Teng Chang Yeow admitted that BN had put up the posters.

Several Penang DAP reps and councillors have since taken to Facebook to expose and condemn the act.

Jason Hng, a Seberang Prai municipal councillor, posted a video on Facebook showing two men going around on their motorcycles to put up the posters at night.

The video showed the duo being confronted by two others. A man was heard saying he did not want to report them while the other said: “You bagi kotor lah… bagi kotor habis (you are making the place dirty).”

One of the men, who confronted them, was seen snatching the posters away from the duo before they rode off. It is unclear where the incident took place.

Penang local government exco Chow Kon Yeow in a Facebook post this morning also condemned the posters that were put up all over the state last night and early today.

He showed several pictures of the posters, with one showing a location in Bagan, where Lim is MP.

“Look out for paid advertisements in local newspapers attacking the state government. They have so much money and resources to kill us and grab Penang back.

“They still have a lot of money from 1MDB not spent at the last elections.”

Chow, who is also Penang DAP chief, said PH’s rival has started a “vicious campaign” using posters, newspaper advertisements and social media communication tools like video and infographics.

He said DAP and PH leaders, members and supporters must not underestimate BN’s resolve to wrest back Penang.

“That is why BN leaders are so sure that Teng Chang Yeow will be the next chief minister.

“As usual DAP will run a clean campaign to highlight our achievements in the last 10 years. It is the people who will have to decide.”

It is understood that the local councils on the island and mainland are taking down the posters that were put up without permit. – March 20, 2018.
