MALACCA Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh said the state’s Raya open house on April 29 can encourage the public to get to know leaders in his new government.

He said the event at the Melaka International Trade Centre, set to be held from 10am to 5pm, can indirectly bridge the gap between leaders and the people and overcome political prejudices as Malacca is now a unity government.

“The people will get to celebrate the excitement of Shawal and see their leaders up close,” he told reporters at a Raya gathering at Seri Bendahara late last night.

Yang Dipertua Negeri Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam graced the event, which saw more than 1,000 guests, at the chief minister’s official residence.

Ab Rauf, who is also Tanjung Bidara assemblyman, hopes the public will not miss the opportunity to enjoy free parking in the state until April 28.

“I cannot anticipate how many people will come to Melaka as it is still early days, but we urge local residents and foreign tourists who visit this state to take advantage of (the free parking),” he said. – Bernama, April 22, 2023.
