A TOTAL of 22.6 million eggs were distributed nationwide through 369 Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) retail outlets from November, Fama said in a statement today.

It added that 349,500 eggs passed through 52 outlets to cater to the high demand in Kelantan.

“Based on our monitoring, the supply of eggs in supermarkets in Kelantan and Terengganu are enough to meet the demands of consumers without a shortage as claimed,” Fama said.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Salahuddin Ayub had previously said that most supermarkets in the East Coast still had supplies of eggs for Aidilfitri tomorrow.

Fama also said that it had held Madani agri sales, including the Ramadan Madani programme, Syawal Madani programme and direct from farm sale programme in Kelantan, selling of commodities such as eggs, chicken and fish.

“They were held so people could prepare for Hari Ray Aidilfitri,” it said.

Fama said it boosted the marketability of the country’s agrifood, especially eggs for the domestic market, working with the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry.

“Fama will always monitor egg supply,” it said. – Bernama, April 21, 2023.
