KUALA Kedah marine police seized 2,000 litres of diesel worth RM4,300 in a raid conducted at a petrol station in Jalan Langgar, Alor Star, yesterday.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry Kedah branch director Affendi Rajini Kanth said the 11am raid led to the discovery of diesel stored in an extra tank on a lorry.

“Further inspection revealed that the lorry had a modified tank suspected of being used for misappropriation of diesel. The marine police then seized an estimated 2,000 litres of diesel found in the additional tank,” he said in a statement today.

The case was handed over to the ministry’s Kedah branch and the 52-year-old lorry driver was also detained for further investigation.

He said the lorry with a local registration number was also impounded.

“The ministry would like to stress that it will not compromise with any party found to be involved in the misappropriation of controlled goods,” he said. – Bernama, April 21, 2023.
