Delivery rider charged over motorcycle blaze at KLCC


A FOOD rider pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur today to a charge of causing mischief by fire.

Azril Kamarunzaman, 34, is accused of burning 11 motorcycles and four electric scooters in a parking area at Suria KLCC at 3.30pm on April 13.

He was charged under section 435 of the penal code, and faces up to 14 years in prison and a fine, if convicted.

Judge Nu’aman Mahmud Zuhudi granted bail of RM5,000 with one surety and fixed May 22 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Wan Nurul Amalina Abu Hanifah prosecuted, while lawyer Muhamad Ridzuan Umar represented Azril. – Bernama, April 19, 2023.
